MEET THE BREW CREW – JENNA BROWN
Meet Jenna, our Marketing & Merchandise Manager!
1) What's your favorite brewery, aside from SLBC?
Before moving to Tahoe I lived in San Luis Obispo for nearly a decade, and SLO has some great craft breweries. My favorites would have to be Liquid Gravity, Central Coast Brewing, and BarrelHouse Brewing.
2) What interested you in craft beer?
My craft beer obsession started in college. When Natty Light just wasn’t cutting it, I dabbled in craft beer and never went back. I quickly became immersed in the craft beer scene in my college town and still love spending my free time at a brewery with friends trying the latest thing on tap. I also met Chris and Nicole when I was attending Cal Poly and Chris was homebrewing some pretty fantastic beer. Watching their journey from homebrewing to opening the brewery certainly contributed to my interest in the industry.
3) What is your favorite SLBC beer?
That’s a tough one. I’m a big IPA fan but at the moment I’m obsessed with our anniversary Agua Fresca beer. The watermelon flavor is the ultimate summer vibe.
4) When did you move to Tahoe?
I moved to Tahoe in April 2021 so I’ve been here for 2 months. So far I’m loving it! Tahoe has always held a special place in my heart and it’s been a goal of mine to live here for some time. I am constantly in awe of the abundant lake and mountain views.
5) What is your favorite trail in the Lake Tahoe basin?
I don’t have a favorite yet, but I do love venturing out to Angora in the summer and recently checked out a section of the TRT at Kingsbury with some killer views of Tallac and the south shore. There’s a lot on my hiking bucket list — Tallac and Maggie’s Peak to name a couple. I’m always looking for trails to take my dog, so let me know your favorite spots to explore!
6) What's an extreme sport you like watching or participating in?
I love snowboarding! I’ve lived pretty far from the mountains for a while so I haven’t been able to ride as much as I’d like to the past few seasons. I’m stoked to be up here and will definitely be taking advantage of riding during the winter months.
7) How do you typically take advantage of a nice day in Tahoe?
The beach is my happy place. On a warm day, you’ll find me floating at Pope or with my dog at Kiva. Nothing tops chillin in the sand with a beer in hand.
8) What do you like best about working at South Lake Brewing Company?
The people! All of my coworkers are wonderful, adventurous humans who I have loved getting to know better over the past few months. I feel truly grateful to be a part of the community at SLBC. It’s an awesome, welcoming space where I can unwind after work and know there will always be someone I can connect with over a beer.
