MEET THE BREW CREW – JENNA OVERMAN
Meet Jenna, one of the faces you’ll see behind the bar!
1) What's your favorite brewery, aside from SLBC?
In my hometown of Pacifica, CA, family friends recently opened a brewery called Pacifica Brewery. They have been making some solid Hazys, Blondes, and Pales. It also doesn’t hurt that they have awesome food and are located right along the Coast.
2) What interested you in craft beer?
When I attended Sac State, I enjoyed visiting the local taprooms and trying a wide range of different craft beers (Sacramento has an incredible beer scene) I also love being able to taste the passion that went into developing each beer’s unique flavor.
3) What is your favorite SLBC beer?
I used to be a BIG IPA fan but recently, I just can’t get enough of a great Pale Ale. Currently I have been loving the Tahoe Taniwha NZ, and Haribro. Oh, and you can’t forget the Loral F***in Friday!
4) When did you move to Tahoe?
I am originally from Pacifica, CA and I grew up traveling to Tahoe during the winters to ski with my family. I knew Tahoe would always hold a special place in my heart, and when the opportunity presented itself, I decided to move to Tahoe full time in June of 2017. Since then, I have enjoyed my time here and I look forward to what the future has in store!
5) What is your favorite trail in the Lake Tahoe basin?
I have always enjoyed hiking up past Eagle Falls to Eagle Lake. In the summer it’s always fun to swim out to the island at Eagle Lake in the freezing water.
6) What's an extreme sport you like watching or participating in?
I grew up skiing until I was about 12, then I switched over to snowboarding. Once I got on a board I knew there was no turning back. Since then I have ridden a handful of places around Lake Tahoe, but nothing beats a bluebird day at Mammoth!
7) How do you typically take advantage of a nice day in Tahoe?
In the summer you can find me at different beaches around the lake, drinking a cold beer, trying to avoid a sunburn. 😂 I also love the snow and get on the mountain whenever I can.
8) What do you like best about working at South Lake Brewing Company?
Working at South Lake Brewing Company is like working for a family. Everyone is always willing to help each other out whenever it’s needed. I also love everyone’s passion for beer and the brewing process from start to finish. I look forward to growing my knowledge of the entire beer process and sharing that knowledge with all of our customers. And, of course, the beer here is great too!
