MEET THE BREW CREW - BILL SCHULTZ
Meet Bill, our amazing beertender turned packaging lead and lab technician!
1) What's your favorite brewery, aside from SLBC?
Currently, it’s the Imperiale Beer Project in Brentwood, CA.
2) What interested you in craft beer?
On October 14, 1978, Jimmy Carter signed the bill H.R. 1337 which legalized homebrewing. In late 1978 I went to Wine and the People in Berkeley and bought my first homebrew kit (Russian Red Ale). I borrowed stainless steel buckets and pots from my dad’s camera store (probably not a good idea) and brewed my first batch.
3) What is your favorite SLBC beer?
Angora IPA. A great beer.
4 ) When did you move to Tahoe?
October 2019 (permanently) but I spent every summer here as a kid staying with my uncle in Marla Bay.
5) What is your favorite trail in the Lake Tahoe basin?
Mt. Tallac Trail. I hike to the top of Mt. Tallac at least once a year.
6) What's an extreme sport you like watching or participating in?
Ultradistance cycling. I have a 128 mile ride scheduled for Monday. I love watching road bike racing. The cycling picture above is of me and my sons after we completed the Death ride.
7) How do you typically take advantage of a nice day in Tahoe?
A long bike ride followed by a beer (and a nap).
8) What do you like best about working at South Lake Brewing Company?
The staff is great. The employees are always positive and it’s a fun place to work. I have the best job in the world, pouring and talking about beer.
