Meet Galina, our Assistant Merchandise Manager and Beertener

1. What is your favorite brewery, aside from SLBC?

Small mountain town breweries have my heart – so the one that comes to mind aside form SLBC is June Lake Brewing, they’ve got great flavors and an awesome community outlook, like SLBC.

2. What interested you in craft beer?

I came from a very different field to craft beer and I give the credit to Chris and Nicole for creating so much more than a brewery that makes great beer, but also a place that’s welcoming and fun. The craft beer community and creativity in this field is what got me so excited to join the industry. I’ve never brewed before but my partner and I are now excited to open up the home brew starter kit once we get brave enough!

3. What is your favorite SLBC beer?

Lil’ Hucker Pale and Style Sensei WC IPA are my favorite – just the right amount of hop, crisp, and flavor.

4. When did you move to Tahoe?

I moved to Tahoe in June 2015. I’ve moved around a bunch in my life but Tahoe has felt like home like no other place I’ve lived.

5. What is your favorite trail in the Lake Tahoe basin?

It’s not quite a trail but I love the scramble up to the Eagle Lake Buttress and along the ridge.

6. What’s an extreme sport you like watching or participating in?

I’m a skier and a climber so anything that gets my heart-rate up in those two. Also, believe it or not SUPing can be an extreme sport when you decide to go out on the lake in exciting weather or go white water SUPing. *at your own risk

7. How do you typically take advantage of a nice day in Tahoe?

Depends on the season but I love it all! In the summer, trail runs climbing rocks. In the winter, ski touring, ice climbing and snowshoeing with my partner and our pups.

8. What do you like best about working at South Lake Brewing Company?

I just love this community – the brew crew, our regulars and the folks who discover us for the first time. It’s a fun and rewarding place to work.

Say “hello” to Galina the next time you visit South Lake Brewing Company and let her know you read her blog!
